In the Kitchen: Bella Viva Orchards Cranberry Orange Scones

These easy, moist and flavorful scones, featuring Bella Viva Orchards’ Dried Cranberries and Orange Powder, are a snap to assemble. While they’re perfect on the holiday breakfast table, we love ‘em year-round!

¼ cup Bella Viva Orchards Orange Powder
¾ cup sour cream
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup Bella Viva Orchards Dried Cranberries
¼ cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
¼ cup cold butter, cut into small cubes


About 1 tablespoon whipping cream
Sprinkling of raw sugar


Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the egg, Orange Powder, sour cream and vanilla extract. Allow to sit about 10 minutes to allow the Orange Powder to hydrate. 

In a large bowl, combine the flour, Dried Cranberries, granulated sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Work in ¼ cup cold butter with clean hands and rub lumps out until the mixture is coarse with somewhat even crumbs. 

Stir the Orange Powder mixture into flour mixture. With floured hands, work mixture until it holds together. Remove dough from bowl and pat into a 7-inch round on the baking sheet. With a sharp knife, score the dough into 6 wedges. Do not separate. Brush with whipping cream and sprinkle with raw sugar.

Bake scones about 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow to cool on the baking sheet about 10 minutes.
